Hunua Homestead Location

Hunua Homestead is located 5 minutes drive from the beautiful Hunua Falls one of the most popular spots for walkers in the bush-clad Hunua Ranges. As the largest native forest in the Auckland region, this park is full of natural wonders, native wildlife, gushing waterfalls, tranquil streams and less than an hour's drive from the Auckland city centre. The Hunua Regional Park covers some 400 square kilometers along the south eastern side of the Auckland region and the pristine forest is home to more than 450 species of native plants.

Hunua Homestead is well positioned to enjoy many other regional parks and beaches. Take a short 30 minutes drive to Maraetai beach and Pohutukawa Coastline offering spectacular views and an incredible location to relax, soak up the sun while enjoying lunch or dinner from one of the local cafes or restaurants. An early European settlement, Maraetai means 'meeting place by the sea' in Maori and the name is just as appropriate today. The neighbouring Beachlands area also has three small, safe swimming beaches – Sunkist Bay, Shelley Bay and Green Bay. These sheltered white sand beaches are part of the Pohutukawa Coast, named for New Zealand's native trees that make the coastline even more spectacular when their flaming blooms arrive in summer.

A short 10 minutes drive will allow you to discover neighbouring Clevedon a small rural settlement offering a rich history and country charm. Clevedon village and the surrounding coast and country make up an authentic piece of rural New Zealand.

A must do is the Clevedon Farmers Market operating every Sunday morning. Be tempted by the seasonal offerings of fruit and vegetables picked as recently as the night before if not early on market morning. Make the most of the opportunity to sample and hand pick the best provisions, be inspired by cooking tips and recipes from the stallholders. Inspiration for early birds can be found in the fresh baking, pastries and espresso available at the market. Fill your basket or bag with a colourful and interesting array of produce and provisions that have been made or grown for you with the utmost care by vendors whose aim is to provide the district with quality, fresh and reasonably priced food.

Travelling thru Clevedon will lead you to the Miranda Hot Pools and onwards to Thames a historical New Zealand town situated between the calm waters of the Firth of Thames and the majestic ranges of the Coromandel Peninsula.

Hunua Homestead is the perfect location to stay when enjoying activities at the Auckland Polo Club and other major events such as Tour de Ranges, Clevedon A and P show plus many more.
